Therapy & Rehabilitation

therapy

Whether you’re recovering from an injury, recuperating after surgery or living with a chronic, degenerative condition, your home for orthopaedics is here to help. Through stretches and exercises, your physical and occupational therapists have the tools and insights needed to push you toward wellness –– restoring your mobility and modifying your training to match your comfort level.

Our physical therapy facilities in Peoria and Pekin are equipped with machines that help you exercise your problem areas, supervised by therapists who work closely with your doctors. Since our doctor’s offices and physical therapy facilities are within the same buildings, your specialists can easily communicate their care plans to your therapists. Here, everyone works closely together to make you feel better and stronger faster.

Athletes receiving sports medicine treatment can look forward to regaining as much of their range of motion as possible. At Midwest Orthopaedic Center, athletes see medical professionals who were once in their shoes, active individuals who know what it takes to push oneself to the next fitness level.

How Physical Therapy Helps You Heal

At Midwest Orthopaedic Center, our physical therapy program includes:

    • Manual therapy –– the practical techniques that maximize joint movement and range of motion
    • Soft tissue therapy –– the hands-on manipulation of body tissue, like massage and myofascial release that loosen tense muscles and restrictive mobility
    • Electrotherapy –– the use of electrical energy that stimulates muscles and reduces pain
    • Ultrasound –– the therapeutic heating of tissues to promote blood flow and healing
    • Heat and cold application –– the standard way to improve circulation and protect cells after injury
    • Exercise programs and progression –– physical stretches, machine exercises and isometric activities that restore range of motion
    • Aquatic therapy –– water-based activities, set in our heated pool
    • Occupational therapy –– treatments for hands, wrists, fingers and shoulders that help you overcome issues getting in the way of your day-to-day life

Please note, our rehabilitation program accepts most standard insurance plans. If your orthopaedic treatment is covered by your provider, your physical therapy (or at least a portion of it) may be covered as well.

With a fully equipped weight room, a gymnasium, a heated pool, massage tables and a team of licensed therapists, Midwest Orthopaedic Center is the place to restore your abilities.
